The technical talk on 22nd September 2017 by Suresh Chakala was a very informative session. The basics of Automation and Mechatronics was briefed with few examples. We were also introduced to Siemens as a company of multiple services and product designs.
PLC logic for industrial application of filling the tank using multiple valves was thought. It gave us pretty good introduction to industrial automation. Also, IOT applications in industrial automation was told. We were introduced to different industrial revolutions phases.
Practical orientation of automation was given by showing devices LOGO and HMI. Marketing on joining SMSCP certification course was the last part of the talk. overall the session was good and interactive.

The talk commenced with Welcoming the Resource Persons Mr. Raghunath V and Mr. Chetan R.P. by Dr. Mathivanan. First Mr. Raghunath talked about their company, Electronics corporation of India Limited, and their products as he is the Head Tranier.Then the Technical session started with Mr. Chetan, Senior Technical member in ECIL.The talk commenced with brief introduction of Embedded systems, definition and broad applications.
Overview of Embedded systems and applications, Industry requirements, Introduction to Micro controllers and getting started with Embedded system programming was the agenda of the Talk. It was an interactive session as student’s involvement was really appreciated. Next the Characteristics of Embedded systems was discussed, design challenges of embedded systems, and specific domain areas was also given more importance.
Introduction to Microcontrollers, about 8051 architectures, applications were also discussed.The microcontroller boards were also shown to student’s development boards and evaluation boards differences were discussed. The talk was concluded with Vote of Thanks given by Niranjan ,5th sem ECE student. Students gave a good feedback about the talk.

The talk on 25th September 2017 was an introduction session to UI/UX. It was the most colorful session of the semester. A brief on UI/UX studio was given. The importance of such designers was told. We also got to know the difference between user interface and user experience.
Speaker was very interactive and boosted the creativity of the crowd. The examples presented by the speaker motivated us to take up designing. overall the session was precise and informative. Hoping to get longer sessions of same.

The seminar on “Soft Skill development” was delivered by Mrs. Geetha V. Sharma, Associate dean, ICFAI business school, Bangalore
Initially session started with the introduction to soft skills and its development. In this regard the speaker briefed about how the attitude of students should be when they are facing interviews, their body language, how to be professional and then a small activity was given to them.
Later, the session continued with how to build their CV, and its contents along with the photo inclusion. The students also thought about how to give self-introduction by picking up some five interesting things within us.
The session taught about the un-employability skills which went like,
- 1. People skills: which deals with communication?
- 2. Persuasion skills: which deals with convincing, influencing and many other abilities?
- 3. Prioritization skills: which deals with teamwork.
- 4. Problem solving and decision making: which deals with long and best solutions?
Then the guidance on higher studies what all homework needed, like aiming for the good institutes which helps in our career, skills development, passion growth and finally getting succeeded by the dreams we made. The seminar really made a huge positive impact with clear and more information about the corporate needs and deeds and how to successfully overcome.

The technical talk we had on 10th April 2018 by Mr. Nisarg Nirmal Kumar on a topic was very informative.
Modern automobiles are not just mechanical machines guzzling fuel but are complex ELECTROMECHATRONIC systems with increased efficiency and intelligence. Today’s automobiles are controlled by Electronic Control Units or simply called ECUs. These ECUs are microcontrollers, programmed to control the activities of engine, body, transmission, infotainment etc. of the vehicle. Gone are the days when only mechanical engineers worked in automotive industry.
Today’s automotive industry requires not only mechanical, but electronics and software engineers. In India and abroad there has been an upward trend in the automotive industry and this has created huge demand for electronics and software engineers to work on embedded systems. With advancements in Electro mobility, the world is moving towards efficient and intelligent vehicles. This has given rise to huge job opportunities to electronics and software engineers.
This tech talk will introduce the modern-day vehicles and features to the audience, discuss about different technologies used. How electronics and software are making transportation more efficient, safer and luxurious. The talk will further guide the students in the career opportunities (electronics, software and embedded systems) in the automotive and IoT sector. Skills required in the industry. Topics covered in the tech talk are:

The Seminar we had on 3rd April 2018 by Mr. Ravindra Karnad on an topic was very informative. Speaker was very clear in delivery of points on emotional quotient, and importance of education. He took various examples from his life experience to enlighten us. His efforts on building a bridge between our thoughts and corporates was excellent.
He mainly discussed about traditional IQ (1904), multiple intelligence (1983) in this further he discussed about spatial intelligence, bodily- kinesthetic intelligence, musical intelligence, naturalist intelligence etc. Emotional intelligence (1995) in this he gave us information on interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence. He explained about information and knowledge, build large on strong and deep foundation, environmental concern and EE solution for environment. The main focus of the talk is on areas mentioned below:
- • Application of smart sensors
- • DSP application in EE solution for environment
- • About sequential learning
- • Importance of basic subjects
- • Difference between literacy and education
To conclude he compared education with literacy with very valid points. In total the talk was very creatively handled, with complete enlighten to students. He suggests studying 7 habits of highly effective people (author: Stephen R. Covey), Infinite Vision (author: Pavithra K. Metha and Suchithra Shenoy) and Emotional Intelligence books.
The seminar was very inspirational and knowledgeable.

Seminar on AI and its Application in Industries

The Seminar started with the welcoming of members from DigiShark Technologies, Bangalore. The resource faculty from DigiShark Technologies, Mr.Mohan, started the talk with a brief introduction about the DigiShark Technologies.
The seminar was based on the advancements made in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The seminar discussion could be broadly classified into three parts:
- • Embedded Systems
- • Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
- • Application of AI in Industries
The seminar started with a brief introduction about embedded systems. The attendees were introduced to the various concepts of embedded systems and its application in real time scenarios. An introduction to embedded C language was also given where the advantages of studying this language were explicitly mentioned by the speaker. A video on the various embedded systems used in industries was shown. Industrial embedded systems such as HVAC and aerospace avionic equipments were also discussed. The advantages of using PLC which help the control systems to communicate with the various input output systems were stated. The ability to centralise and automate the industrial equipments due to introduction of embedded c and PLC were also shown to the students.
The second half of the seminar was based on the emergence of artificial intelligence.the speaker introduced the basic concept of AI and the application of neural networks in AI.The introduction included the various types of neural networks such as
- Feed Forward Neural Networks
- Back Propagation Neural Network
- Probabilistic Neural Network
- Complex Valued Neural Network
The speaker also introduced the various applications of these neural networks such as in Image Processing,Cognitive Analysis etc.
The last part of the seminar session dealt with the role of AI in industries.The application of artificial intelligence in industries is basically done via the industrial embedded systems. The discussion pointed out basic idea for implementation of AI in industries such as productivity improvement and value creation. The basic advantages of using AI such as reliability, safety and effective production were discussed. Various business models such as Predix by General Electric were discussed. The main differences of between industrial AI and Business AI as shown below were discussed.

The Speaker started the session with the basics of VLSI, its design and the present technology in industries.Also, the gap between the curriculum syllabus and industry was also discussed. The Speaker also gave an idea what basics to concentrate on to clear the technical interview in VLSI industries. In Industries, fabrication of IC’s, its processing and the technology used is explained in detail by the speaker. Finally, the career opportunities related to verification system Engineer, Layout Engineer, Physical designer Engineer requirements are discussed.
The session was very much helpful to students as the interaction with speaker went on very well.

The technical talk on “ROBOTICS and IoT” was delivered by Mr. Siddeshwar and Mr. Anand Kumar, Technical directors, SATYAKI group.
Initially session started with the introduction about Robotics and its relationship with IoT. For students it will be interesting and easy to build the models and it can be linked to IoT.
The session taught about the concept of Robotics, its demand for Teaching science, technology engineering and STEM. Robotics is a branch of Engineering that involves the concept, design, manufacture and operation. It can be related to IoT. IoT has the ability for things that contain embedded technologies to sense, communicate, interact and collaborate with other things, thus creating a network of physical objects. The speakers gave the information about recent technologies in the industry and it has been increased enormously in the ration 1:2 means one human: Two IoT devices.
The speaker also gave the information about Integration of IoT with Industrial Robots. Integration of IoT with industrial robots is called The Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT). It is estimated that the IoRT market will be worth over $20 billion by 2022. Integration of IoT with industrial robots will help users worldwide in continuously measuring the performance of the robot with respect to each cycle, and continuously monitoring he components. A smart system/device can also be used to monitor the status of the robot and report as needed. With IoT, the robot by itself may be intelligent; it can collect all data and certain values from each of its sensors and either store or transmit live data that is acquired. Apart from industrial robots, IoT can be used in robots that require remote sensing and detection. Finally, the session concluded with showing some Real time examples videos to students.
