About the Programme:

Considering the objectives of the entrepreneurship awareness programme and the expectations of the participants, the programme contents, delivery and sequence was fine-tuned on the very first day of the programme. During the entire programme participative learning methods like, group work, simulation exercises, role-play, case discussions etc was extensively used in addition to informative lectures with audio-visual presentations. The participants were encouraged to challenge the concepts, ask questions and participate actively in the class-room interactions. The classroom learning was supplemented by well-compiled course material and handouts.

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was conducted at ACS College of Engineering, Bengaluru in seminar hall 2 for 3 days from 15th February to 17th February 2018, creates awareness among students about various facets of entrepreneurship while highlighting the merits of pursuing such a career option. In Entrepreneurship Awareness camp, about 90 students are exposed to different aspects of entrepreneurship, including opportunity guidance, services offered by agencies of support system etc.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, ACS College of Engineering organized a one day Industrial Visit to “Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy Development” Bangalore on 1st September 2017 for Second year students.

The visit was organized with the prior permission and guidance of beloved HOD Dr. M. Eswaramoorthy and Prof. Sunilraj B.A. A total 45 students along with 2 faculty members have joined the visit.

We started from our college premises sharply at 09:00 am on 1st September 2017

Reached MGIRED by 10.30 am

We are welcomed by the Dr. Shoba Anand Reddy, Additional Director and Head of Department (Environment). The faculty by name Ravi K, Deputy Director (Small wind and Hydro) given a complete introduction about the MGIRED and explains about the importance of small hydro plant and small wind plant. He explained his own experience of installing the power plant in the Western ghat regions. He showed the complete set up of small hydro plant and small wind mill inside the institute and explains about the decentralized power generating system. And the end of the session at 11.45 a.m. MGIRED provided small refreshment for the complete team.

The next session was started at 12 p.m to 1.15 p.m, which was taken over by Shanthi G, Additional Director (Solar). Where she completely explained about the importance of solar energy especially in Karnataka. What are all the government schemes which provide subsidy for the generating the power. She completely concentrated and motivated to become Entrepreneurship in the power generation area.

The afternoon session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. is completely visiting about the plant. The officials taken us to visit the models and explained about the models theoretically and practically the shows the working of each models. Where the faculty member motivated the students to carry out the project work on solar energy, wind energy etc.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, ACS College of Engineering organized a one day Industrial Visit to “Accutech Enterprises”, Peenya, and Bangalore on 19th August 2017 for third year students.

The visit was organized with the prior permission and guidance of Prof. Sunilraj B.A. .A total of 32 students along with 2 faculty members have joined the visit.

About the Programme:

We started from our college premises sharply at 01:00 P.M. on 20th February 2016.

Reached Accutech Enterprises by 1:45 pm

At 2.00 p.m. We are welcomed by the Mr. Vinay, Mechanical Engineers from Accutech Enterprises. He gave instructions before visiting the company. He also had given oral explanation about the ACE Designers solution company overview. Which makes the students to know about the company.

At 2.15 p.m. We visited the Accutech Enterprises R and D centre. Where we got information about the following technology:

• Machine validation & testing for CNC Turning machines product range
• CNC technology
• Structural Analysis & Optimization using Finite Element Technique
• Technologies for next generation machines like robot technology
• Products Manufactured in the company

At 3.30 p.m. We visited the shop floor with the engineer Mr. Vinay. At each layout we got about the explanation of the each part which is to be installed in the lathe. We started journey from the Lath bed section. In the lathe bed section we got information about the V grove lathe bed and the composition of V grove bed.

Then we move towards the drive system of the lathe. We got information about the installation of the motor drive and the automation technology. Here the students gained the knowledge about the capacity of the drive system. The drive system is different for different capacity of the lathe

At 4.30 p.m. we come across the bending section. We got information of the bending section of the lathe. Which is very much required for the frame work of the lathe.

AT 4.45 p.m. We visited the tools installation section. We came across different types of tools and its working capacity . And also about the installation of the tools for the lathe

At. 5.00 pm. We visited Robotics section. The robots performing the welding operation for the frame work of the lathe. The students are very much eager to know about the Robots. The robotic engineering Mr. Shankar explained about the Robotics technology for 30 minutes and we also got practical exposure of the robotics system.

Finally at the end of the session at 6.oo p.m.

Our faculty Mr. Sunilraj B.A. on behalf of ACS College of Engineering, has given a vote of thanks for the Accutech Enterprises, for giving a great opportunity to visit the plant.

About the Programme:

Dr Vitala H R , Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SJB Institute of Technology , Bengaluru delivered a lecture on “Overview of Mechanics of Materials ” at ACSCE II Floor Smart class room on 26/10/17 which is organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, ACSCE.

All 3rd Semester students attended the Guest Lecture and utilized it for their academic growth and to gain knowledge in the subject. Dr Vitala H R talk covers the following areas: Introduction to Stress and Strain, Thin and Thick cylinder, Shear force and Bending Moment Diagram, Strain Energy etc. He nicely presented the topic in depth with the help of Black board presentation.
