Department Electrical and Electronics engineering has organized a technical talk on 24.09.2016 at seminar hall-3. The function was presided by Dr.S S Patil, HOD EEE dept. Mr. Ananda M.H, Asst.Prof. introduced the guest to the audience.
Mr. B S Raghavendra was the speaker and he spoke on the topic “Low voltage devices & switchgear Protection “. He focused mainly on the various low voltage devices and application of circuit breakers in the industries. He briefly explained application field of MCB’s, relays, RCCB, transformers and transmission cables. He also shared his industrial experience in electrical field and its applications. The program was concluded with vote of thanks from Mr.Naveen, Asst.Prof , EEE dept. Program was attended by faculty members and 3rd, 5th and 7th semester students of EEE department.

Industry visited : Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore
An industrial visit to Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) located at Bangalore has been organized for the benefit of 5th and 7th semester students. Students were taken to various departments of CPRI and given knowledge about the testing equipments and shown some testing demonstration.
Students visited measuring instruments testing division and observed heat run test (Temperature rise test) and the students were also shown bus bars, transformer protecting devices, monitoring of temperature rise. Later the students were taken to short circuit test division where there was a live demonstration of short circuit test on vacuum circuit breaker and explained short circuit curve, how it is recorded. Students visited the High voltage lab where they were shown impulse generator, cascading of transformer to generate high AC voltages, wet and dry testing equipments and demonstrated flashover test on transmission line bushing. Students also visited High Power lab and shown the control room, simulation. They were shown testing area of high power equipments, capacitor banks and inductor banks and some videos related to high power testing. Students interacted with the staffs at CPRI.
The students were accompanied by Prof. H L Dinakar and Mrs. Vibha Shetty, Asst. Prof, EEE department.

Parents-Teachers meeting was organized by Department of Basic Sciences and all other engineering branches at ACSCE on 24th September 2016, wherein parents of nearly 157 students have actively participated and discussed the progress and other academic activities of their wards. Dr. Selvanandan, HOD, Dept. of physics, Mr. Shivakumar M.S, HOD, Dept. of chemistry, Dr. Veena B.H, HOD, Dept. of mathematics, and Dr. Pradeepa S.M, Dept. of chemistry stood as the event coordinators for first year B.E students. The respective engineering branches HOD’s stood as the event coordinators for higher semester B.E Students. During our interaction we informed all the parents about the need and the importance of this meeting and requested them to give more attention towards their children studies and told to encourage them by proper guidance. The parents have gathered more information about their children by interacting with the class teachers of all the sections. Furthermore, all the visited parents have given a positive feedback about the meeting and also towards our continuous effort in improving the quality of the education.

Solar Energy Society of India-Student Chapter Second Technical Talk on ‘Career and Business Opportunities in Solar Energy Sector’ on 23rd September 2016 at 2.00pm to 3.50pm delivered in Second Floor Smart Class Room by Er Ajay Thomas,CEO, Vatsaa Energy Pvt Ltd Wayand, Kerala.
In his talk, he explored the possibilities of doing business and required skills along career opportunities in solar energy sector. He discussed on his experience during the installation and execution of 10kW Floating Type Solar photovoltaic power plant in Kerala.
Prof. Siddesha H.S., Associate Professor and a co-ordinator of the workshop welcomed and introduced the guest speaker. Dr.Suresh .P. M., Professor and PG co-ordinator has presented a memento to guest speaker as token of respect.

A MOU is signed between ACS College of Engineering and space Application centre,ISRO,Ahmadabad for launching IRNSS(Indian Regional Navigation satellite systems) on 15-09-2016 at Ahmadabad.
IRNSS(Indian Regional Navigation satellite systems) equivalent to GPS system for positioning recently all seven satellites of this constellation has been operationalized by ISRO.This receiver is useful for independently collecting & monitoring IRNSS data which can be used for several scientific purposes. Eg: Study of Ionosphere.

Solar Energy Society of India- Student Chapter, Department of Mechanical Engineering, ACSCE Bengaluru conduced an invited special talk on ‘Solar Energy Startups ‘ by Dr.D.Kiran, CEO, MEDIDART Bengaluru on 25th August 2016 at Seminar from 9.00am to 10.30am. Final year and Third year students attended the workshop and participated in the interaction. During his talk, he emphasis the startup potential in the solar energy business domain and placement opportunities in private and government sector.

The NSS Unit of ACSCE has conducted a Plantation Camp on 23/08/2016 in ACSCE College Road. The Camp was started at 10.00 AM in the morning. The Principal Dr. M.S. Murali inaugurated the camp by planting and watering a plant. After that he addressed all the volunteers about the importance and benefit of this type of camps. Mr. M.S. Shivakumar, NSS Programme Coordinator & HOD Dept. of Chemistry, motivated the students and volunteers. The faculty members like Dr. Pradeepa S.M, Mr. Venkatesh, Dept. of Chemistry, Mr. Raghavendra K, Dept. of Mathematics have very actively participated & involved in the Camp throughout the day. Senior faculty members such as Dr. Selvanandan, Dept. of Physics, Dr. Veena B.H, dept. of maths, Dr. C.S. Pillai, Dept. of CSE have also encouraged us during the camp. More importantly, more than 30 NSS volunteers from various branches of ACSCE have attended & carried the camp very enthusiastically with lot of interest. During the camp we have successfully planted around 75 plants. At the end of the day, Our management (RRGI), encouraged and appreciated our work. The NSS unit of ACSCE thanks the management for their continuous support and appreciation for all our activities. Finally, the above mentioned camp was also appreciated by the localities and the passengers who are travelling in that road during the camp.
