ACSCE AICTE IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation and Application) Lab :

Overview of the AICTE Idea Lab Scheme:

AICTE IDEA Lab (Idea Development, Evaluation and Application Laboratory) is an initiative of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) aimed at strengthening innovation-driven, experiential learning across technical institutions in India. The scheme promotes hands-on education through STEM-based experimentation, design, and prototype development.

The IDEA Lab provides financial and infrastructural support for a centralized facility with modern tools, encouraging project-based learning, creativity, and real-world problem-solving aligned with NEP 2020.

Objectives :

• Promote hands-on learning and strengthen application of STEM concepts.
• Encourage students to ideate and convert innovative concepts into functional prototypes.
• Support multidisciplinary teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
• Create an ecosystem that nurtures early-stage innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Facilitate industry partnerships for mentoring and technical guidance.
• Integrate design thinking and project-based learning into academics.

Facilities at ACSCE AICTE IDEA Lab :

The ACSCE IDEA Lab is housed in a 5000 sq. ft. space equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to support design, fabrication, research, and innovation activities. Key facilities include:

• • Makerspace with CNC milling and drilling machines.
• • Robotics Laboratory featuring programmable robotics platforms and automation kits.
• • Electronics & IoT Laboratory with sensors, controllers, and modules for IoT-based experimentation.
• • Access to Centre of Excellence (CoE) Labs for advanced research.
• • Discussion and Ideation Rooms for mentoring and collaborative brainstorming.
• • Seminar Halls with digital presentation infrastructure.
• • Training Rooms with computer systems and high-speed Internet for programming and digital design.

Integration with Departmental Laboratory Facilities :

• Promotion of Interdisciplinary Research – The IDEA Lab enables collaboration across engineering, science, design, and management departments. This multidisciplinary synergy fosters innovative solutions and enhances research outcomes.
• Shared Access to Resources – Laboratory equipment and tools are accessible to various academic departments through scheduled time slots, extending even beyond regular working hours. The Makerspace also serves neighboring institutions in the Bangalore region.
• Curriculum Integration and Skill Development – The IDEA Lab supports academic modules and hands-on training in:

Formation of Interdisciplinary Innovation Teams – Student–faculty teams from multiple departments will collaborate on societal and industry-oriented challenges.

Participation in Global Platforms – Students and faculty will be encouraged to participate in national and international innovation forums, with support for pitching ideas to investors.

Interdisciplinary Research Promotion – Research will be aligned with national priority areas such as:

Sustainability Plan (Post Two Years) :

To ensure financial sustainability, the IDEA Lab will adopt the following revenue-generating strategies:

• Mentorship and Technology Adoption Services – Paid services will include technical training, mentorship, skill development, and technology adoption support.
• Facility Utilization by Startups – Startups will be offered office space, access to equipment, and fabrication facilities through a profit-sharing model or nominal user charges.
• Consultancy and Testing Services – The lab will provide prototype development, testing, and consultancy services to industries located in:
