The Quiz titled “Basic Engineering and its Sciences” was organized to enrich the knowledge of First Year students to get exposure on various engineering streams and its applications.

The program was started at 11.00 AM with the welcome speech by HOD/AS and followed by introduction of the COSMOS-Explorer Team by Dr.V.Paramaguru, Asso. Prof. ASE. The COSMOS-Explorer Team handled an interactive session with their various quiz questions through two rounds.

• Round 1: Decider Round
• Round 2: Final Round

Initially students were separated with their team with maximum of 2 per team. After the instruction, Decider round was held for about 20mins with 15 questions. Out of which 10 teams has been shortlisted based on their Marks and time of completion.

Then the final round was held for about 1 hour with 50 questions with 5 questions for each team.

The students were expressed that this program was highly useful to them. Finally, the seminar was ended with vote of thanks.

The Guest Lecture titled “Integrated Avionics System” was organized to enhance the knowledge of Aerospace Engineering students in basic and advanced Aircraft instruments and its systems.

The program was started at 3.00PM with the welcome speech by Dr.R.Mukesh Head of the Department & introduced the resource person. The resource person handled an interactive session about the application of integrated avionics system. The resource person enumerated the following points.

• Avionics System Functionalities-Civil and Fighter Aircrafts
• Avionics Subsystems common to all aircrafts
• Pilot Vehicle Interface and Human Factors
• Cockpit Display Systems
• Avionics Hardware Design Process.

At the end of the session, students interacted with the resource person. Students expressed their gratitude that the program was highly informative and useful. Finally the Guest Lecture ended with the vote of thanks by Dr.C.Suresh, Associate Professor.

The technical seminar titled “Applications of Drones and HAPS and possible role of AI/Robotics” was organized to enhance the knowledge of Aerospace Engineering students in Design, Development and applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and also the role of Artificial Intelligence / Robotics in UAVs.

The program was started at 10.30 am with the welcome speech by student representative Mr. Srinidhi, IV year. Ms. Sirunjana, II year student introduced the resource person and the Principal, Dr. M. S. Murali, ACSCE greeted the resource person with the Memento. The resource person handled a very interesting session about the design and developments of UAVs and career opportunities in UAV field. The resource person outlined the following points.

• UAV design and potential applications
• Use of AI technologies in UAV design
• Career prospects of UAV systems.
• Use of UAVs for agricultural advancements
• Software used in UAVs.

At the end of the session, students interacted with the resource person to clarify their doubts in the topic and the resource person motivated the students to enrich their skill in UAV design and other technical domains to enhance their employability. Students expressed their gratitude that the program was highly informative and interesting. Finally the seminar ended with the vote of thanks by final year student Mr. Padmanaban.

Number of Participants : 112 Students

The Hands on Training in flight simulator was organized to enhance the knowledge of Aerospace Engineering students in flying an airplane with the help of flight instruments.

This training will help every students knows how every pilot starts their journey to becoming a pilot. During the training, students were expected to perform the skills and practice maneuvers after examples are given. Also, given the option to download their flight videos.

Mr. R. Ramesh Babu took over the session for training the elite person Dr. K.Ramachandra, Former Director GTRE, DRDO followed by the faculties and students everything from startup checklists, taxi to the active runway, maneuvers in the air and land without crashing.

At the end of the session, students interacted with the resource person to clarify their doubts in the topic and the resource person motivated the students that the skills learned here can be used to accelerate their real pilot training progress. Students expressed their gratitude that the program was highly informative and interesting. Finally the Guest Lecture ended with the vote of thanks.

Number of Participants : 110 Students

The industrial visit held on 18th December 2021 on account of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav was accompanied by 119 students and 3 professors from Aerospace Department, ACSCE.

All students were assembled at ACSCE at 9:00 AM and left the college at 9:30 AM on college bus. We reached ALIDSDA, DGQA, Ministry of Defence, Govt. Of India, Jalahalli camp road, Yeswanthpur, Bengaluru which was the venue at 11:00 AM .

The students were welcomed by Dr. Biswajit Choudhry, Senior Scientist officer, Department of Defense Production, DGAQA and gave some insights about what was going on in defense and the purpose of having the exhibition which was Atmanirbhar Bharath. Students were also motivated on making the country self-reliable on defense and related products.

Major inputs from this industrial visit include the following,

Getting to know about various defense related products.

• Knowledge on Turbo cooling, Oil cooling in War tankers and Military Aircrafts.
• Display of various electrical parts like single input multiple output devices, Auxiliary power units and various other power devices.
• Explanation on Heat exchangers, cooling systems etc.
• Exposure to mockup models of various Indian Airforce aircrafts like Sukhoi SU-30 MK1, Surya Kiran etc.
• Knowledge on Indigenously developed Light combat Aircraft Tejas.
• Glimpses on various missiles like Agni, Brahmos etc.
• Real model of Oleo Strut landing gears used in aircrafts.
• Working model of EO pod which consists of Laser rangers to aim at target, providing the additional sight to pilots.
• Display of mockup model of one the IAF’s plane, Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules.
• Display of current undergoing DRDO’s UAV named Rustom and its recent development.
• Display of Anti-Missile carriers used in airrafts.
• Knowledge on Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) developed by HAL, India.
• Display of GHATAK- Unmanned Aerial Vehicle which is in developmental stage with its details.

The students left the premises at 3:30 PM after gaining knowledge about various fighter jets, helicopters and recently developed UAVs. Students got a chance to get to know about the various opportunities in defense sector and also gained the knowledge on India’s capabilities in becoming Self reliable. The students expressed their thanks to the principal, the faculty members and Management for organizing the industry visit.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering has celebrated the “National Mathematics Day” on 22ndDecember 2021in honour of mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920). The celebrations were announced by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Madras University in 2012.

The Quiz competition in Mathematics had been conducted to bring awareness about the contribution of Sir.Srinivasa Ramanujan and to encourage critical thinking among students. Total of 72 students from 2nd and 3rd Year Aerospace Engineering students were excited and participated in the event. The program was organized by team of faculty members namely Dr. V. Paramaguru, Dr.Suresh C and Mr. J Siva under the supervision of the Head of the Department Dr. R. Mukesh. At the end of the session, the winners of the competition were appreciated with the prizes and participation certificates were distributed to all the participants. Students expressed their gratitude that the program was highly exciting and interesting.

• Software Design tools available and its importnce
• Case study : Aerospace Component Design in Solid Works Workbench.

• Importance of Design and Analysis tools in R&D.

The Flight Simulator was inaugurated by Mr. Lakshminarayanan, Vice-President, Bengaluru International Airport Limited, Bengaluru on 16.02.2022 at 11.00 AM. Mr. Ramesh Babu, Managing Director, Raydynamics Pvt. Ltd., has demonstrated the operations of Flight Simulator. Apart from that various aircraft models were exhibited to the visitors.

At 11.30 AM, the students and other dignitaries were assembled in auditorium for the technical talk event. Ms.Pratheeksha, 2nd year Aerospace Engineering student has compered the whole event. Chief Guests, Principal, Heads of the Department of Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering and a student representative lit the lamp to start the event. Ms. Sinchana, 2nd year Aerospace Engineering student welcomed the notables and the participants. Then Dr. M. S. Murali, Principal felicitated the occasion with his warmth speech and honored both the Chief Guests (Mr. Lakshminarayanan& Mr. Ramesh Babu) with Bouquet, Shawl and Memento.

As per Visvesvaraya Technological University norms, ACS College of Engineering has conducted Induction program for the First Year Engineering Students of about two weeks. There were various activities, technical and motivational talks and competitions were organized in the event of induction program. The students who won the prizes in solo and group competition were appreciated with trophy and medals. Then the main segment of the event, a technical talk by Chief Guest Mr. Lakshminarayanan has started. He covered various key points about Infrastructure and Sustainability at Airport. Some of the important points were highlighted by the resource person are as follows;
