About the Smart India Hackathon
The Smart India hackthon was Launched by Dr.M S Murali,Principal,ACSCE.Initially it was started with the brief introduction of Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems in our daily lives and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving. The first three editions SIH2017, SIH2018 and SIH2019 proved to be extremely successful in promoting innovation out-of-the-box thinking in young minds, especially engineering students from across India.
Process flow for the hackthon was explained by the SPOC Dr.V Mareeswari, HOD, CSE, ACSCE.
Step 1SIH2020 Software & Hardware Edition: Problem statements submission by Central &State Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Industries & NGOs
Step 2Submission of Problem Statements (PSs) by Central & State Ministries, PSUs, Industries and NGOs on the SIH portal. Review of Submitted PSs & finalization by oncerned committee Publishing finalized PSs
STEP 3Registration of College SPOCs on SIH portal Blocking published PSs by SPOCs of Colleges or Institutes Internal campus hackathon to be conducted in each college or institute by their SPOCs on their blocked PSs
STEP 4College SPOC to be responsible to conduct internal hackathon in the campus College to finalise total best 5 teams + 2 waitlisted teams from the internal hackathon. SPOC to recommend the selected teams for SIH 2020 Software edition at SIH portal Out of the 5 selected teams per college, 4 can be chosen from blocked PSs & 1 can be chosen for Student Innovation category
STEP 5Team leaders of the selected teams to be registered at the SIH portal to submit ideas Submission of ideas by selected teams against PSs by college SPOC for the SIH2020 Finale Evaluation of submitted ideas
STEP 6Result analysis Publishing Result SIH2020 Software Grand Finale
The teams can come up with their own ideas against the problem statements and submit them to the nominated faculty .The internal juries Dr.R .Siva Subramaniyam,Convenor,IIC & Dr.G Ramanan,President,IIC along with the external jury Dr.Vinoth they evaluated the top 7 teams (5 teams for Software edition and 2 teams for Hardware edition)and made them nominated (from internal hackathon)and have been submitted on the SIH portal by the College SPOC.

About the Programme:
Department of Mechanical Engineering organized FIVE DAYS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON “OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION & NBA ACCREDIATION” SPONSORED BY VTU TEQIP1.3 on 6th TO 10th JANUARY 2020.The inauguration was held at ACS seminar hall 2nd floor from 10.00 am to 11:00 am. The dignitaries on the dais present were: President of the event Dr. M.S. Murali, Principal, ACSCE, Chief Guest Dr.Manjunath, Executive Council Member,VTU-Belagavi Principal, New Horizon College of Engineering,Bangalore, Dr. Siddesha H S, Head of the Department, Mechanical engineering, Dr. Suresh P M, Professor, PG coordinator and R&D and Dr. S Selvanandan, Preofessor & HOD Physics Department, ACSCE.
The flow of the Event is as follows:The Program started with an Invocation song by Mr. Hemanth, Asst.Professor, Biomedical Engineering Department, followed by Lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and welcome speech by Dr. H S Siddesha, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Sunilraj B A, Asst.Professor, Department of Mechanical engineering explain about the FIVE DAYS FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON “OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION & NBA ACCREDIATION” SPONSORED BY VTU TEQIP1.3
Dr. M.S. Murali, Principal, delivered the presidential address to the gathering, Dr. Suresh P M , introduce the chief Guest Dr. B Manjunath, Executive Council Member, VTU, Principal, New Horizon College of Engineering, Bangalore. Chief Guest addressed the gathering with topics i.e OBE(Outcome Base Education), What, Why and How OBE related with NBA, Finally to create the Global Standards for imparting the Engineering Field to meet the current and future challenges of Technology development. Session concluded with vote of thank by Dr. S Selvanandan, Professor & HOD Physics Department.

ACSCE MoU with University Technology PETRONAS, Malaysia
It is indeed a very proud moment to share with you all that RajaRajeswari College of Engineering, Bengaluru & A.C.S. College of Engineering, Bengaluru have signed an MoU with University Technology PETRONAS, Malaysia for Joint research and development activities, Staff and Student exchange programs and any other activities that the Parties deem mutually beneficial in the field of Engineering and Technology.

Workshop on Rocket Propellant Preparation

About the Programme:
The Seminar titled “Rocket Propellant Preparation” was organized to enrich the knowledge of Aerospace students to get exposure on propellant preparation.
The program was started at 10.00 AM with the welcome speech by HOD/AS and followed by introduction of the resource person Mr. M. Ravi Shankar by J. Siva, Asst. Prof. ASE. The resource person handled an interactive session about the fundamentals of rockets propulsion, types of propellants, compositions, adiabatic flame temperature calculations and nozzle design. The resource person shared the information about the importance of the following aspects.
- Burning rate measurements of the propellants
- Different composition of propellant preparation
- Ignition delay
In between interaction with students and questionnaire to test the ability of students and the resource person motivated the students to enrich their skills through different case studies as it’s still beginning vast domain. The students were expressed that this workshop was highly useful to them to develop their career in aerospace field. Finally, the workshop was ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Sushmitha Asst. Prof.
Seminar on Design and Development of UAV’s

About the Visit:
The Seminar titled “Design and Development of UAV’s” was organized to enrich the knowledge of Aerospace and Aeronautical students to get exposure on design, development, integration and validation of UAV’s for military and civil applications.
The program was started at 11.30 AM with the welcome speech by Dean COE and HOD/AS and followed by introduction of the resource person Mr. N. Balachandran (Rtd Scientist G, ADE) Mr. Dhanya Prakash Asso. Prof. AE. The resource person handled an interactive session about the design and developments of several UAV’s like Lakshya, Sparrow, Nishant, Rustom I and Rustom H. The contents of this talk were related to UAV design, Payload capacity, Power plants, wing design and CFD simulations. The resource person shared the information about the importance of the following aspects.
- UAV’s developed by ADE
- Aerodynamics Design
- Technologies challenges in UAV design.
- Control system
- Softwares used for UAV’s
- Icing effects
- Light weight structure.

About the Talk :The seminar on “User Interface Design” was delivered Ms. Farheen Farhath, Managing Director, Prinston Smart Engineers Which is very important to be known for getting into the corporate world?
Initially we started our session with the introduction of “User Interface Design” which stated User interface design or UI design generally refers to the visual layout of the elements that a user might interact with in a website, or technological product. This could be the control buttons of a radio, or the visual layout of a webpage.
User interface design or UI design generally refers to the visual layout of the elements that a user might interact with in a website, or technological product. This could be the control buttons of a radio, or the visual layout of a webpage. User interface designs must not only be attractive to potential users, but must also be functional and created with users in mind and User interface design can dramatically affect the usability and user experience of an application. If a user interface design is too complex or not adapted to targeted users, the user may not be able to find the information or service they are looking for. In website design, this can affect conversion rates. The layout of a user interface design should also be clearly set out for users so that elements can be found in a logical position by the user.
User interface designs should be optimized so that the user can operate an application as quickly and easily as possible. Many experts believe that UI design should be simple and intuitive, often using metaphors from non-computer systems. With a more intuitive user interface design, users will be able to navigate around a website easily, finding the product or service they want quickly. One way to check the intuitiveness of a user interface design is through usability testing. The feedback from usability testing can then be used to optimize the user interface design of a prototype or final product.
The session taught about the un-employability skills which went like,

- Why is user interface design important for usability?
- How to optimize user interface design.
- Application of UID
Then we had the guidance on application development by using UID and the jobs availability in the domain of application development, and all the courses available in there institute related to UID how it will be available for the students. Finally the session is ended with vote of thanks.

The program was started at 11.30 AM with the welcome speech by HOD/AS and followed by introduction of the resource person Mr. Sunil by J. Siva, Asst. Prof. ASE. The resource person handled an interactive session about the introduction to AutoCAD, Catia, Simulation models by Nx CAD, Hypermesh and Ansys fundamentals. The resource person shared the information about the design softwares used in aerospace industries.
The resource person motivated the students to enrich their skills in software training. The students were expressed that this seminar was highly useful to them wrt to design softwares required for aerospace domain. Finally, the seminar was ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Sushmitha Asst. Prof.
