Swach Bharat Mission and Enviornmental Awareness Event

The NSS Unit of to ACS College of Engineering conducted a “Environmental Awareness and Swacch Bharat Abhiyan” Program on 9th March 2016 from 10:30 am to 3:30 am in the Doddabelle Village close to ACSCE, Bengaluru in association with the Department of Civil Engineering. Prior permission for conducting the aforesaid program was obtained from the Government Primary School of the Village and the Grama Panchayath.

On 9th March 2016, a team of faculty members, NSS Volunteers and civil engineering students left the ACSCE at 10:00 am in the college bus provided by Management and reached the Government School at 10:20 am. The inauguration of the program was marked by a function held in the school which was presided by the Head Mistress Mrs.C.Gayathri. Mr.L.Shivaraju, President of Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association, Mr. Ramanna, SDMC Member, our Principal Dr. M.S. Murali, Mr. Shivakumar M.S, NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr. Pradeepa S.M, Dept. of Chemistry, I/C HOD-Civil Dr. W.P. Prema Kumar and Faculty coordinators Mrs. Gayathri and Mr. Shashi Kiran and faculty members Mrs. Umadevi and Mr. Vishwanath were present. Mr. L. Shivaraju and Dr. M.S.Murali addressed the school students as well as our Volunteers & civil engineering students. After the inauguration, sweets were distributed to the school students.

The Volunteers & civil engineering students performed a skit in front of the school students bringing out the importance of cleanliness, discipline etc. The students were taken to the class room and detailed environmental awareness was provided by our civil engineering students with the aid of power point slides, explanations, specially prepared posters etc. for about one and half hours. The session was quite interactive and the responses of the school students to queries raised were admirable.

After this the school students were each given one note book, one pencil and one eraser. This program came to an end at 1:30 pm. It was a big success. The school teachers, NSS Volunteers, civil engineering students and faculty members of ACSCE and others involved deserve to be lauded for their efforts, cooperation and coordination. At 2:00 pm the Volunteers & civil engineering students performed a skit in the village stressing the importance of keeping the environment clean in the presence of villagers and later went about cleaning some of the streets of the village. This program ended at 3:15 pm. Overall, it was a well planned and executed program intended for the village school students and villagers
