M.Tech – Aeronautical Engineering

M.Tech Aeronautical Engineering or Master of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering is a two-year postgraduate Aeronautical Engineering course was established in the year 2018 with an intake of 18. The course is approved by AICTE, Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka. Aeronautical Engineering belongs to the category of high-tech engineering and involves the study of physical science and mathematics to perform research, development, testing, launching and the manufacture of various air vehicles. The Aeronautical Engineering course trains the students in the design and development of structural components. The course explores new areas and creates new avenues in the field of Aircraft structural components and focuses on developing talented engineers in the new technologies and business management skills. The field of activity of a qualified engineer involves development (construction, analysis and testing), priming of work, fabrication and observation of the functionality of Aircraft and Helicopter structures. The students undergo rigorous training in simulation with the software, such as, MATLAB SIMULINK, ANSYS, MSC/NASTRAN and LABVIEW. The students design and develop according to the specified standards and demonstrate project work in the field of metallic and composite structures.

 Candidates who have acquired BE/B.Tech by securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate. However in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Group 1 aggregate percent of marks in qualifying examination should not be less than 45%. The admissions are through central counseling on the basis of merit in PGCET or GATE. GATE qualified candidates are eligible for scholarship through AICTE. A few seats are also available under sponsored and Management quota.



 The department has the following state-of-the-art laboratories, Aerodynamics Lab, Energy Conversion Lab, Material Testing Lab, Metrology Lab, Propulsion Lab, Structures Lab, Flight Simulation Lab etc.
